The CCP Dance School
The Official School of Ballet Philippines

The CCP Dance School (CCPDS) is the professional training ground of the country’s most promising young talents in dance. With a unique curriculum that encompasses various dance styles and techniques, the systematized method and approach to instruction takes highly into account children’s anatomy and psyche at various ages and levels so that the training is physically safe, technically effective and artistically enriching for all children.

Constantly at work and in performance with acclaimed local and international dance artists, the CCPDS students are distinctively different from other students. Discipline, dedication and full knowledge of theater decorum and etiquette are the core values that the system imparts together with technique training and artistic mastery.

Regular courses in dance (Classical and Modern Ballet for all levels) including specialized lecture series and workshops are offered from June to March. From April to May, the school conducts the Summer Dance Workshop, a five-week intensive technique and total dance training culminating in a dance and choreographer’s showcase at the CCP Main Theater.

Through a consortium agreement between DLS-College of St. Benilde and Ballet Philippines, a college degree--Bachelor of Performing Arts major in Dance--is now available. Academic and major subjects are taught at DLS-College of St. Benilde while Ballet Philippines conducts dance technique classes.

To encourage excellence among its students, the CCPDS and its mother company, Ballet Philippines maintain the highest roster of scholars in the country. Scholarships are awarded to children and advanced dance students from the different regions and Metro Manila on a regular basis. This is in line with the CCP and BP’s mission to discover and nurture young talents in dance. These scholars eventually become candidates for apprenticeship and membership to the company. The scholars regularly perform at the CCP’s theaters for the company’s season and for special productions.

The school officially launched its performing group, the BP Kidz, during its evaluation program in December 2002. Recently expanded to include the BP Teenz, the selected scholars that make up the group have performed side by side with Ballet Philippines and have participated in performances for various causes and organizations. With a vast repertoire ranging from classical to neo-classical ballets, character to contemporary, and neo-ethnic to street dance, the group is open for bookings, offering its talent and flair to special events of any establishment.
